About

Hello World and welcome to my blog. I’m Amanda, the proud pack leader of two confident, well-mannered, amazing German Shepherds who are my best friends. Their training has been an enlightening ten-year journey of trial, error, and plenty of research on how best to serve my pack, myself and my family to create a harmonious life for us. I feel like I’ve reached a reasonably high level of success toward that goal, and I hope I can pass on a few tips, tricks and advice through DogMa Works to help you on your own training journey with your furry friends.

Whether you are new to owning a high-drive working dog, or you are a seasoned veteran, there will be a variety of information shared on DogMa Works to better help you unlock your dog’s fullest potential. I want to provide articles that explore the basics of living and co-existing in a working dog household, to more advanced topics on training and caring for your furry friend to help you live in synchronicity with balanced, confident companions.

About My Working Dogs

Dogs are eager to learn and please the alpha of their pack. How you become the alpha is learning to clearly communicate and understand it doesn’t happen overnight.  I have taught my two German shepherds English, German, and hand signals to communicate with them.  I had to first establish consistent training sessions with positive reinforcement.

How you become the alpha is learning to clearly communicate and understand it doesn’t happen overnight.

My two shepherds Diesel and Sniper have total night and day personalities and what drives them.  Diesel is from Czech working lines and Sniper is from American working lines and is a son of a K9 officer.

Diesel is my cool, composed, methodical working dog that walks in a room with a confident swagger.  With Sniper, he is a super high-drive, salivating, eyes dilating let’s work or I may lose my mind type of dog.

Owning a Working Dog is Work

Owning a working dog is plenty of work, but there is an abundance of reward too. I chose working dogs as part of my pack, because they are so intelligent and loyal. Training them is hard work, but a breeze too when you find the right methods and cues to use for each dog. My dogs Diesel and Sniper are not just animals, they are part of our family, our pack, and I couldn’t imagine life without them. Through clear and consistent training, we have learned together to live in synchronicity.
